CLASSICAL LEARNING (CL)
CL 101 - HISTORY OF THE LIBERAL ARTS
Prerequisite: None
A study of the history of the liberal arts from ancient Greece to the present, with particular attention to the disciplines of classical learning: the trivium (grammar, logic, and rhetoric) and quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy). Students will consider the development of these liberal arts and their relationship to the good life and a free society.

CL 201 - METHODS OF CLASSICAL LEARNING
Prerequisites: CL 101
An inquiry into ancient and contemporary methods of learning, with emphasis on the role of the instructor in a classical classroom. This course will explore how the interlocutors in the greatest ancient dialogues navigated the conversation and will provide students opportunities to practice these techniques themselves. Not appropriate as a substitute for COE courses.

CL 401 - CLASSICAL LEARNING APPRENTICESHIP
Prerequisites: CL 101, CL 201
Students complete a minimum of 120 hours in an apprenticeship at an approved private or charter classical school or homeschooling coop.
