Description

This course is designed to develop educators' knowledge and skills in the administration of talent development education programs. Graduate students will explore the steps in developing talent development education programs, including needs assessment, identification, assessment instruments administration and interpretation of results, selection of personnel, supervision, formative and summative evaluation, philosophy, and curriculum. Students will interpret budgeting, gifted reporting, and state data related to gifted. Attention will be given to planning and programming for the unique needs of diverse populations. Students will gain practical experience in the development, presentation, and assessment of professional development related to gifted education with parents, administration, and teachers to meet the requirements of the Ohio Operating Standards for the Identification and Service of Students Who Are Gifted for general education teachers providing gifted services. Students will continue to develop their personal educational philosophy for the education of gifted individuals. This course fulfills state requirements for the Ohio Intervention Specialist/Gifted Endorsement.
