Description

An introduction to the study of water resources, from the oceans to freshwater aquifers and surface waters. The class will include an introduction to analytical and sampling techniques, the chemistry and physics of water, analyses of groundwater and surface water systems, and the connection between the hydrosphere, geosphere, biosphere, and atmosphere. A critical facet of hydrogeology is the development of an understanding of man-made contaminant transport and access to freshwater resources. Three lectures and one two-hour lab per week.
