Graduate Reading Endorsement The graduate reading endorsement enables its completers to teach reading intervention in grades K-12 and qualifies them for the teacher credentials under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee Ohio Law. This is available to licensed teachers only: Prerequisite Courses: Ohio Reading Core (12 hours or the equivalent state-mandated reading core courses). • Foundations of Literacy (READ 210) • Phonologic Awareness and Phonics (READ 220) or equivalent • Methods of Reading and Writing (READ 330) or Content Area Reading (READ 350) or equivalent • Reading Assessment, Instruction, and Intervention (READ 440) or equivalent with dyslexia standards *All candidates must have completed the 12-hour Ohio Reading Core (or the equivalent state-mandated reading core courses) or will be completing it concurrently with the following required courses: Note: Passage of the appropriate state required reading test(s) required prior to endorsement application.
