Program Description

The Department of Adult Education and Professional Studies in COAS will offer a BS in Organizational Leadership as a 54-hour major with a minor in Ethics, for a total of 69 credit hours, in addition to the AU Core and elective courses making the 120 credit hours required for graduation. The BS in Organizational Training and Development has a focus on the application of adult learning theory to the design, implementation, and assessment of adult training programs across a diverse set of organizations. The theoretical lens for this program is in adult learning theory and adult development and motivation theory, wherein the goals and objectives for individual development are rooted in the life story and developmental stages and phases of the individual adult learner, as juxtaposed to the workforce needs of the organization in question. Graduates will be prepared to design, implement, administer and assess a variety of programs within a variety of organizations from the philosophical orientation of the adult stakeholder communities which exist in the organizations' contexts.
