Master of Science in Supply Chain Management

Program Overview

Program Description

Master of Science in Supply Chain Management ● In-person, 12-month program (August-August) ○ 30 credit hours: four 3-hour classes in fall and spring semesters, 6-hour choice of internship, case studies or capstone in summer ○ In-person: there are many strong Supply Chain Management programs offered online, including many that operate at a larger scale than we could offer, hence with lower price-points. ○ Cohort-based: all students take the same classes at the same time, minimizing scheduling issues for faculty and facilities ● Mostly aimed at international students ○ Program would be STEM-designated, which allows three total years of OPT (Optional Practical Training) for international students. ○ Can utilize existing MBA infrastructure for recruiting and managing international students ● Price point likely same as MBA (~$30k for entire program); can consider joint MBA/MSSCM offering, which may be appealing to international students. ● Intensive use of computer software including programming ○ Principal software/language: SAP ○ Additional software/language: Excel ● Potential synergies with other programs under consideration, including MSBA (Master of Business Analytics) and/or MBA. ● Faculty sufficiency ○ Existing faculty can teach most of the classes, but extant teaching loads may preclude this possibility; the faculty that could teach these classes are mostly the ‘scholarly active’ faculty. ○ Ideally we would use one full-time (or two halves of full-time) faculty members.
