Master of Education Degree (MED) in Middle Grades

Program Overview

Program Description

The Master of Education Degree (MED) provides a graduate route to teacher licensure for individuals who have earned a baccalaureate degree in an applicable field. The MED program is focused on pedagogy, field experiences, professionalism, action research, and data informed instruction. The program is designed to take 2-2.5 years, with licensure at the end of the first year, and the MED at the end of the second. The second year is designed to be completed during a student's first year of teaching. Students must pass the associated Ohio Assessment for Educators Content test for admission to the program. Students may take longer to licensure and/or degree depending on their personal circumstances. Students will choose two areas of specialty from the following concentration areas: English/Language Arts; Math; Science; and Social Studies. .
