Overview
Description
Students will be encouraged to think like a principal rather than thinking like a teacher. This transition will be accomplished through the studies of various leadership models, traditional responsibilities of principals, how principals spend their time, and on which aspects of the school require the most attention from the leadership role. A distinction will be drawn between being a leader and being a manager of an educational building. Students will examine the role of the principal in the context of their own professional environment. One of the more challenging aspects of a building leader is facing difficult conversations effectively. This will be a key component of this course.
